November 29th 2012

Looking forward to another great nights sleep in the Burn Care Center :) Alexz slept so good, I think it was because we finally got to cuddle the night away. He ate all three of his meals really well, no nausea or anything.... Hopefully we can lose the feeding tube soon. A Child Life specialist brought a Wii for our room, making Alexz feel right at home. Over the course of the day, he got out of bed, stood, walked, and worked extensively with the physical therapist. All in all John, Alexz and I had a really good day, very relaxing and productive. Thanks all for following our sweet boy's progress, Jordan and John

Yay yay, Alexz has been moved to the Burn Care unit. He no longer has to be monitored 24/7 in PICU. His cheeks and upper chest have been undressed, they have healed, though still quite pink. This move entails much more physical therapy and less relying on the feed tube. Alexz is still a tiny bit moody because of not being able to get up and do things for himself, but for the most part he is being a very good, strong, and patient boy. We love him so much :) John and Jordan

November 25th 2012

Hello everyone! Sorry for not updating the past few days, we have been very busy. Alexz has been very awake compared to before. He is still pretty drowsy from the combo of meds, but nothing like before.
He has been working with the physical therapist on getting his legs working again and straightening his limbs.
Alexzander has been quite emotional, mostly due to the fact that he still
has a hard time communicating. He wants to talk, however, his mouth isn't moving normal because of his meds. Also, his voice is still a little raspy because of the breathing tube that was in for two weeks. I have been working with him on talking to me, dad, or his nurses, before he gets so frustrated that he starts crying.
We have started reintroducing solid foods, though he is still fed through a tube for maximum calorie intake. He mostly wants Popsicles and more Popsicles. He usually gets his way :)
Alexz is doing very well over all, the hardest part right now is the pain and emotion management.

Love and positive energy to all ♥
Jordan

P.S. all of Xzander's nurses say he is one of the strongest and most well behaved patients they have ever had... Just like anybody else that meets him :D

November 19, 2012

Alexz' surgery went very well today. All of his grafts have taken to his burns, and they added more grafting to a few spots. Fortunately, modern medicine has taken us to the point where we didn't have to take any of Alexz' skin for the grafting. Using collagen from pigskin, a lab cultured product called EZderm has provided all of the grafts for Alexz. As far as burns go, Alexz is healing so g
ood. Because of the debriding, he has been spiking a temperature, keeping him on Tylenol 'round the clock on top of his other pain medicines. Today he woke up to tell me he loves me, just before falling back into a deep healing sleep. ♥
Hopefully, if he continues to heal at such a successful rate, he will only have a few more debridements left. If that is the case, he will be able to lose the respirator (they keep it in to prevent damage from removing and replacing etc.) and move on to the next stage of burn treatment. I pray that this will be the case :)
Thank you for following, LOVE.

I was mistaken, Alexz goes to the OR tomorrow morning. In the OR he will have skin grafting and debridement done. He has developed a little infection, which is expected with this magnitude of burn. The debridement should take care of this. Because of the infection, his bp was too high. So, unfortunately he is back on his blood pressure meds. This has all been so hard, without all of the love and support, it would be completely unmanageable. Please keep the prayer chains going, and sending your light Alexz' way.

November 17, 2012

Alexz has had another promising and comfortable day. He is still fast asleep. Tomorrow, he will go into the OR for more debridement and some grafting. He is doing very very well. He still has a breathing tube and lots of IVs, but he is comfortable and healing at quite a quick rate. We can't see any of his burns except for those on his cheeks, and they seem to be healing very well. All in all he seems to be recovering succesfully. Our God is an awesome God.
Thank you all-
Jordan

November 15, 2012

Alexz is doing very well. He is metabolizing his meds very quickly, which has pros and cons. The down side to that is obviously that the medicine is wearing off very quickly, leaving him in some discomfort. His nurses are doing their very best to keep him relaxed and cofortable. On the up side, it is keeping him more cognitive. He is mouthing words, and starting to communicate by shaking his head yes and no. Most of the swelling has gone down, so he finally looks like little Alexz again :) thank goodness. Everyday he is getting better, it is just time now. Thank you all for your prayers and good energy, and keep up the good work :) love and light to all following.
